Wine Industry Tasmania is the peak body for Tasmanian grape growers and winemakers. It was established in late 2006 to replace the Vineyards Association of Tasmania, bringing with it a new focus to build the profile of, and market, Tasmania’s premium cool-climate wines.
It is a company limited by guarantee and overseen by a Board of Directors. The current board comprises three independent directors - Chairman Graeme Lynch, Scott Dawkins and Andrew Hood and four member directors - Andrew Pirie, Steve Lubiana, Keryn Nylander and Natsha Nieuwhof.
Wine Industry Tasmania is an independent, non-profit organisation, financed by its member businesses, with additional funding sourced from corporate sponsors, the Australian and Tasmanian Governments. The business employs two full staff including its Chief Executive Officer, Sheralee Davies, and Industry Development Officer, David Sanderson. There are also two part time staff members - Project Officer Allison Williams and Finance Officer Leanne McDougall.
Wine Industry Tasmania represents more than 70% of the Tasmanian industry, with more than 90 statewide industry members and 34 associated member businesses.
