16 March 2011 - Smoke danger to vulnerable Tasmanian vineyards

Wine Tasmania has raised concerns about a recent influx of burning in wine growing areas just as the 2011 vintage commences. With the statutory fire permit period concluding earlier this month, a number of smoke concerns have been reported in wine growing areas around the island. Wine Tasmania CEO Sheralee Davies urged caution and consideration from both commercial and private land holders at this high risk time for grape growers.
